Book Series Review: The Hurricane Wars by Thea Guanzon

♡ Thank you for the free audiobook, Libro.fm.

After learning that this series is Reylo fanfic, I had to read it! My love for Star Wars goes back to the early 80s when I watched the movies in theatres and asked my grandma to style my hair into twin buns like Princess Leia. Later, I introduced my son to the series and enjoyed the newer movies with him. But I digress. I gobbled up the first two books of the trilogy and eagerly await the last installment! The world-building, enemies to lovers, banter, and suspense are all amazing.

The Hurricane Wars

All Talasyn has ever known is the Hurricane Wars. Growing up an orphan in a nation under siege by the ruthless Night Emperor, Talasyn has found her family among the soldiers who fight for freedom. But she is hiding a deadly secret: light magic courses through her veins.

Prince Alaric, the emperor’s only son and heir, has been forged into a weapon by his father. Alaric has never been bested. That is until he sees Talasyn burning brightly on the battlefield with the magic that ruined his family.

Talasyn and Alaric both know this war can only end with them. But a greater threat is coming, and the new magic they can create together could be the only way to beat it.

A Monsoon Rising

After a lifetime of war, Alaric and Talasyn were thrust into an alliance between their homelands that was supposed to end the fighting. Now Talasyn must play the part of Alaric’s empress while her allies secretly plot to overthrow his reign. But the longer the couple are forced together, the harder it becomes to deny the feelings between them.

The Hurricane Wars aren’t over. It’s time to choose what—and who—to fight for. The world holds its breath amidst a whirlwind of new magic and old secrets that could change everything.

☊ Listening to A Monsoon Rising via audiobook was outstanding. Narrators Kaleo Griffith and Jeanne Syquia did a great job!
