Blog Tour: Kaitlyn Hill Books Giveaway and Guest Post

by Krista

❥ Thank you to author Kaitlyn Hill, Underlined, Delacorte Press, and Publicity Pros(e) for sharing this information and giveaway opportunity with me and my blog visitors.

Thanks to the lovely group mentioned above, I have Wild About You, Kaitlyn Hill’s newest book in my TBR, and I cannot wait to read it!

Read on to learn about the book, the author, and how to enter this contest.

About the Book

Natalie Hart has always been loud, unfiltered, and unapologetically herself. But then comes her freshman year of college, when she loses her merit scholarship and gains one pesky little anxiety diagnosis.

Hesitant to take out more student loans, Natalie decides to shoot her shot and applies to Wild Adventures, a popular outdoorsy reality show. Sure, Natalie prefers her twelve-step skincare routine to roughing it on the Appalachian Trail while competing in challenges against other college kids, but that scholarship prize money is calling her name. High risk, high reward, right?

Enter Finn Markum, her randomly assigned, capital-O Outdoorsy teammate whose growl could rival a black bear. These partners have more friction than a pair of new hiking boots. Or is it flirtation? Turns out falling in love might be the wildest adventure of all…

Kaitlyn Hill Guest Post

The author happily shared her favorite reality television shows with us as part of this bookish feature.

Do you see any of your favorite reality shows listed below?

  • Love Island – I’ve watched various seasons of the UK and Australia versions, and am LOVING this summer’s Love Island USA (on which I’m a week or two behind, so no spoilers coming here). In my opinion, Love Island has dialed in on exactly what a reality dating show should be, striking the right balance of fluffy silliness and real romance. It’s messy by design, making people “couple up” then constantly sending in hot new singles to test the existing relationships. Viewers get a ton of content in real time, as episodes air almost every night throughout the season, and with so much drama and quickly shifting relationships, it never feels like there are lulls in the action.
  • Vanderpump Rules – I was extremely late to the game on this one, only having started it last year in the wake of Scandoval (IYKYK…does everyone K at this point?). It was my first serious foray into the Bravo universe, and one I don’t recommend for the faint of heart as it is 11 seasons of pure chaos. It started out following all the interpersonal drama among the staff of a West Hollywood restaurant owned by former Real Housewife Lisa Vanderpump. By now, it’s a lot of the same ups and downs of friendships and romances with many of the original cast, they just don’t have to wait tables or bartend after 11 seasons on a successful reality show. Fun fact—Ariana from VPR is the (wonderful) host of Love Island USA this season!
  • Drive to Survive – Is it clear yet that I love drama? The producers of DTS are so good, they made me care about a sport made up of wealthy men driving fancy cars really fast, a.k.a. Formula One. Each season of the show follows various key players and storylines in a single F1 season, and it’s fun to keep up with F1 races in real time, then later see what all was happening behind the scenes once the new DTS episodes drop. The world of F1 is full of wealth, politics, rivalries… basically Vanderpump Rules with racecars (KIDDING, before the serious F1 fans come for me).
  • The Great Pottery Throw Down – This one is on the far opposite end of the drama spectrum, for a cleanse after the other shows! It’s one of my favorite things I’ve ever watched—a British show with a very similar format to The Great British Bake Off, but with pottery instead of food. Each week, there’s a main challenge for the potters, like making a whole crockery set, or a toilet, or vases using a certain technique, etc, along with smaller “throw down” challenges, in which they might have to throw a pot while blindfolded or something else fun and different. The best thing about TGPTD, though, is that the contestants are all SO SWEET and genuinely support one another and will literally help their competitors finish their pieces if they need it. SO wholesome and heartwarming!
  • The Amazing Race – I have to give a shoutout to the show that inspired WILD ABOUT YOU! This one has been around for so long, I’m amazed that they still find ways to keep it fresh and exciting, but as a newer fan, I’m so glad they do! Teams of two—usually friends, spouses, mother/daughter, brother/sister, coworkers, others who signed up together—compete in what’s basically a worldwide scavenger hunt. They trek across countries and continents, and partake in challenges based on the culture, language, traditions, etc of the places they go, making it really fun to watch for anyone who loves traveling. In WAY, I kept Natalie and Finn’s race closer to home by setting it on the Appalachian Trail, but the style of the race and challenges is heavily influenced by TAR!
