Book Review: The Body in the Library by Agatha Christie

by Krista

I joined the Read Christie 2025 Challenge with Agatha Christie Ltd. If you want to take the challenge, you can visit the official website or their various social media channels to learn more.

This month’s theme is performers, and my book is The Body in the Library.

Synopsis

It’s seven in the morning. The Bantrys wake to find the body of a young woman in their library. She is wearing evening dress and heavy make-up, which is now smeared across her cheeks.

But who is she? How did she get there? And what is the connection with another dead girl, whose charred remains are later discovered in an abandoned quarry?

The respectable Bantrys invite Miss Marple to solve the mystery… before tongues start to wag.

Thoughts

This was my second Miss Marple mystery and I really enjoyed it! I am finding that I can count on Christie for a quick read, interesting characters, and some unexpected twists. I am thoroughly enjoying reading my way through Christie’s cozy mystery novels. And Miss Marple is a gem.

The Body in the Library is the first Christie book I’ve read and it got me hooked!
I’ve started to read After the Funeral, as part of April (not yet that month but I wanted to start early).
