Synopsis
Broken down by her emotionally neglectful ex, all Charlie Underwood wants is someone to tell her she’s good enough. Then she stumbles into a new job with a boss who brings her to her knees—literally.
As an owner of the Salacious Players’ Club, Emerson Grant knows exactly what he wants and isn’t shy about his particular tastes. But when he mistakes Charlie for a candidate to be his new submissive instead of his son’s ex-girlfriend, he immediately tries to correct the situation. He offers Charlie a job as his secretary and nothing more…
Yet now that Charlie has seen a glimpse of what can happen when she’s honest about what she wants, she makes it clear that all she wants is Emerson. He might be twice her age and her ex-boyfriend’s dad, but he’s also the only man who can give her everything she desires.

Thoughts
I will preface this by saying that this book was a birthday gift from my beloved, who fell for the hype. He saw a lot of 5-star reviews on BookTok, and then the cashier at B&N raved about it, so he didn’t hesitate to pick it up. While it didn’t end up being a great read for me, it wasn’t a total loss since I had fun reciting some of the spiciest scenes for him to give him a taste of what he set me up for.
While I don’t have a lot of praise for this book, I will say that the heat starts in the very first sentence. If you’re looking for pure smut, this book may be for you. I like a bit more depth in terms of characters and plot, so this was a boring read for me, unfortunately. Charlie was a bit too naïve and Emerson was a bit too much of a prick for my liking. Nothing really shocked me, either.
So, eh, better than some other pure smut books I’ve read, but not the best. So, I give it a passing 3-star rating and will not continue on with the Salacious Players Club series.
