Book Series Review: Nightborn Duet and a Novella by Carissa Broadbent

by Krista

So many of my fantasy-loving friends have enjoyed the Crowns of Nyaxia series, so I figured that it was time to jump into it. Once complete, there will be eight books, split into three duets and then two standalone, optional novellas. I chose to read the first duet with the novella between those two books, as recommended by the author. By the second book, I was hooked on this vampire romantasy series and look forward to continuing it!

The Serpent & the Wings of Night

The adopted human daughter of the Nightborn vampire king, Oraya carved her place in a world designed to kill her. Her only chance to become something more than prey is entering the Kejari: a tournament held by the goddess of death. To survive, Oraya is forced to make an alliance with Raihn, a ruthless vampire. Their blossoming attraction could be her downfall, in a kingdom where nothing is more deadly than love.

Six Scorched Roses

While Lilith had already accepted the terms of her own inevitable death, the deaths of everyone she loves is a different matter. As her town withers in the clutches of a god-cursed illness, she takes matters into her own hands. Desperate to find a cure, Lilith strikes a bargain with Vale, a vampire. She offers him six roses in exchange for six vials of vampire blood–the one hope for her town’s salvation. But the transaction becomes more deadly when love enters the picture.

The Ashes & the Star-Cursed King

In the wake of the Kejari, everything Oraya once thought to be true has been destroyed. A prisoner in her own kingdom, grieving the only family she ever had, and reeling from betrayal, she no longer knows the truth. She’s left only with one certainty: she cannot trust anyone, least of all Raihn. Raihn’s own nobles are not eager to accept him. When Raihn offers Oraya a secret alliance, she must decide if the risk is worth it.
